Civic Holidays are nonpartisan days of action that strengthen and celebrate our country’s democracy! They bring together a wide range of organizations and communities in pursuit of an America where everyone participates and votes. Thousands of local, state, and national partners have helped millions of voters cast their ballots through fun and creative civic holiday celebrations hosted around the country every year.
National Voter Registration Day was first celebrated in 2012, and in 2020 achieved all-time records of registrations and partner groups. Since its inception, nearly 4.5 million voters have registered to vote on the holiday.
The unique challenges of the 2020 election cycle inspired the creation of three more civic holidays – National Voter Education Week, Vote Early Day, and Election Hero Day – to address specific actions and opportunities to help more Americans cast a ballot.
In 2021, at the request of partners across all of the Civic Holidays, we launched a joint website to help partners of all stripes and sizes learn more about (and participate in!) all of the Civic Holidays. Here, you can find everything you need to organize civic holiday celebrations, and help get your community #VoteReady. We are excited to celebrate with you in 2023!
