Civic Holidays

ABOUT

Civic Holidays are nonpartisan days of action that strengthen and celebrate our country’s democracy! They bring together a wide range of organizations and communities in pursuit of an America where everyone participates and votes. Thousands of local, state, and national partners have helped millions of voters cast their ballots through fun and creative civic holiday celebrations hosted around the country every year.

National Voter Registration Day was first celebrated in 2012, and in 2020 achieved all-time records of registrations and partner groups. Since its inception, over 5 million voters have registered to vote on the holiday.

Inspired to help voters take each of the critical steps to make their voice heard after registering to vote, three additional Civic Holidays were launched in 2020 – National Voter Education Week, Vote Early Day, and Election Hero Day.

In 2021, thanks to the collaborative efforts of partners nationwide, we launched CivicHolidays.org, a hub for all things Civic Holidays. This website offers resources to organize engaging celebrations and make our communities #VoteReady.

In 2024, trusted community groups, campuses, businesses, and election officials are essential for ensuring every American can have their say.. Your efforts will help voters navigate barriers to voting and ensure their voices are heard at the ballot box.
